1948 the company was enrolled in the commercial register by Ferdinand Baier. In the mid-50ies the hand-operated machines have been the standard in bookbinding industry. Still today this business field plays a decisive role for BAIER.
In the sixties Applications in the plastics industry evolved more and more. Today this is the most important market of BAIER.
Beginning of the seventies The factory in Esslingen grew too small so BAIER moved into a new plant east of Stuttgart. On this site machines are built and exported all over the world. During that period the production program enlarged with label-printing and die-cutting machines which are still a core business today.
End of the eighties Ferdinand Baier retired and his daughter Birgit Baier-Hammerschmidt and his son-in-law Frank Bochtler took over the company. Both of them have been working for BAIER several years before.
The nineties have not been too easy for BAIER and in the end of the nineties the family decided to sell the company because of a missing successor. It was of major importance for them that the company should remain independent and that shares and management is not separated.
With the turn of the year 2001 Kurt Maier and Christian Kramer took over the company and continued the business under the well-known name and at the same place. Kurt Maier is toolmaker, graduated in mechanical engineering and had many years of experience as sales manager in different companies. Christian Kramer has a graduation in technical business management and experience in international commercial management positions. Both were working for major and medium sized companies and are able to face the needs of any size of customers.
2011 Another new era starts for BAIER. In a new strategy LEonhard Kurz Stiftung & Co. KG holds now a share in BAIER. This joint venture forms a unique parnership of leading companies in the field of hot stamping. KURZ is the global player in hotstamping foils, Hinderer&Muhlich is manufacturer of outstanding hotstamping tools and BAIER has the machine manufacturing competence.
